Buccal Fat Removal surgery | Bichectomy
Bichectomy or Buccal fat (lower cheek fat) removal is a small and simple aesthetic facial procedure (Intraoral procedure) to improve cheek contours with removal of Bichat’s adipose bag, located in the two fat compartments inside the cheeks.
This procedure is recommended for people who, despite diet and exercises, still have a wide and a rounded face, making them look more weighty. It is also done as a complementary procedure, when Rhytidectomy (face-lift) surgery did not obtain satisfactory results to harmonize the middle and lower third of the face.
Bichectomy has gained popularity due to its short-term results and rapid recovery. It is performed as an outpatient surgery under local anesthesia or IV sedation. The recovery can take up to 14 days.
