The procedure is done under local anesthesia. An antiseptic is applied to the donor and recipient areas of your body, from where fat is removed and transferred through the fat injection. The fat is removed from the buttocks, stomach, or thighs with a syringe or Cannula (a thin hollow tube) that is connected to a vacuum device.
Depending on the extent of treatment, the procedure can take from 30 to 90 minutes.
Patients may experience minimal discomfort from the needle injection.
Results are evident within a week’s time but it never results in 100 percent improvement of wrinkles, scars, hollow cheeks, or thinned lips. Results can last from a few weeks to a year.
Post procedure, the patients may experience swelling and some bruising lasting for several weeks or months. For the first 48 hrs. patients may notice reddish colored skin in the treated areas. However, normal activities can be resumed immediately, but must avoid sun.
Complications from fat injections are typically minimal, which include uneven texture of the skin, infection, abscess, and scarring. In some cases, the area may be overfilled or under filled.
The cost depends on the extent of procedure on the body, the appropriate dosage for each area and the thickness of the filler required. Therefore, it is difficult to provide a meaningful cost estimate until examined by your doctor.
