Hair Transplantation

Hair transplantation is also known as hair restoration. It is a surgical procedure where the hair follicles from one part of the body (donor site) are transplanted in other part of the body (recipient site). The procedure is performed under local anesthesia for restoring hair in bald areas of the scalp, eyebrows, eyelashes, Moustache and beard.

It takes around 4-8 hours’ time to complete the surgical procedure. It depends on the total number of grafts and targeted area.

Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT)
Tissues strips will be removed from donor area and segregated into individual hair follicular units. Small incisions will be made on scalp to place the FUT grafts. But, this method is not much popular.
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
In FUE Hair transplant, the Individual Hair follicles will be extracted from donor and moved to recipient area using a surgical needle. This method will not leave a long surgical scar at the back of the head. This is the preferred method as there is less wastage of the hair follicles and leaves little or no visible scars.

FUE hair transplant is less invasive and is a painless procedure. Your hair will be trimmed and you will be provided local anesthesia to extract hair follicle. The donor sites includes back of the scalp, the sides of the scalp and sometimes the beard hair and chest hair.
The trimmed hair will be extracted using a puncher making small incisions and the hair follicle will be extracted by using small tweezers and inserted into the bald area of the scalp with small incisions.
The transplanted hair will have growth similar to the normal hair and will shed as per the normal hair cycle while the root of the hair will be intact. You can expect to see the results within 3 to 4 months of time

Hair transplantation is an outpatient procedure as it takes only 4-8 hours to complete.

You can get back to your work the very next day of the procedure but you should protect yourself from the dusty or pollution specific areas.
